Students from Kolej MDIS Malaysia have recently demonstrated their commitment to environmental stewardship through a community service project aimed at cleaning up the beach in Desaru, Johor. Led by a team of 12 dedicated students and guided by their lecturer, the initiative saw participants collectively dedicate four hours to the cause, resulting in the removal of 76.5 kilograms of plastic waste from the shoreline.
The project, by MPU3412 Community Service students, not only focused on physical clean-up efforts but also included a campaign to raise awareness among the local community about the importance of environmental conservation. Through educational initiatives, the students aimed to inspire a collective effort towards creating a cleaner and more sustainable future for generations to come.
The success of the clean-up initiative was bolstered by the support of Majlis Bandaraya Pengerang, who provided essential tools and bins to aid in waste segregation and disposal. Their collaboration with the students exemplifies the power of community partnerships in addressing pressing environmental challenges.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Majlis Bandaraya Pengerang for their invaluable support in making this initiative possible,” said Ms. Amshana Chandra Mohan. “Their assistance underscores the significance of collaborative efforts in driving positive change within our communities.”
As advocates for environmental preservation, the students of Kolej MDIS Malaysia remain steadfast in their commitment to making a tangible difference in the world around them. Their dedication to the clean-up initiative reflects a broader ethos of social responsibility and environmental consciousness instilled within the institution.
