Lecturer – Mass Communication

Main Duties/Responsibilities

Strategic and Budgetary Planning

Assisting the Head of School in term of:

  1. Promoting the program and securing the student numbers.
  2. Monitoring for all financial matters, including financial planning and sustainability, resource allocation, the identification of new sources of income, the monitoring of expenditure to ensure that it is within appropriate levels, ensuring the linking of resource allocation to strategic and operational planning; compliance with College approved financial policies; ensuring all staff are aware of the existence and extent of the financial regulations of the College.

Teaching and Learning

  1. Teaching the courses provided by the School based on approved curriculum.
  2. Preparing course plans, teaching materials, assignments, activities and any related assessments for student learning.
  3. Ensuring the course learning outcomes achieved.
  4. Participating in School Curriculum Committee to develop new courses or to review current courses
  5. Preparing course file or other related documents based on Malaysian Qualification Agency requirements.
  6. Monitoring the assessment of students such as course work, project work and examinations, and maintain up-to-date and accurate records of their progress and achievement.
  7. Participating in program team activities and act as leader of a course when needed.
  8. Assisting the admission, enrolment and induction of students.
  9. Evaluating students in the workplace during their industrial training.
  10. Contributing to the implementation of quality assurance policy, as part of the College quality framework.
  11. Providing ample periods of time for counseling and mentoring students in matters related to academic success, life goals, and spiritual development.
  12. Upholding the academic integrity throughout the teaching and learning process.

General Responsibilities

  1. Representing the program internally and externally.
  2. Managing and encouraging information flow to staff and students regarding School and College developments.
  3. Ensuring the effective operation of the program in accordance with approved governance procedures.
  4. Undertaking the general management, subject to College policy, of the School’s physical facilities and equipment, including the allocation of rooms and other spaces.
  5. Implementing decisions of the relevant authorities of the College and supply the information in accordance with the relevant authorities of the College directions.
  6. Assisting Examination Unit for examination invigilation.
  7. Performing other duties as may be assigned by the relevant authorities of the College.

Qualifications/Skills Required

  1. Bachelor degree in Mass Communication.
  2. Master degree in Mass Communication.
  3. Preferably with 3 to 5 years work experience in lecturing Mass Communication courses.
  4. Able to write and communicate fluently in English.
  5. Independent, self-motivated and a team player.
